Closed evaporative coolers

Closed evaporative coolers

Evaporative coolers with a closed cooling circuit transfer the heat load of the process liquid to the ambient air via a heat exchanger bundle: During operation, the internal cooling circuit is recooled by spraying the tube bundle as part of the spray water evaporates. The remaining water is collected and reused. The insulation of the coolant prevents impurities from entering the system from the air and causing malfunctions.

A closed loop system protects process fluid quality, reduces system maintenance and increases operational flexibility. The slightly higher investment costs for closed loop systems pay for themselves:

  • Higher system efficiency due to cleaner process liquid
    Lower system maintenance costs
  • Lower water treatment costs
  • Further energy savings in winter, as operation without a chiller (free cooling) is possible

Efficient energy consumption

Efficient energy consumptionOur evaporative coolers convince with their very low energy consumption of the overall systems. The low operating temperatures reduce energy consumption. Baltiguard drive systems also offer the option of optimising energy efficiency. In addition, many evaporative coolers have highly efficient fan motors that reduce energy consumption. Heat transfer systems store energy and transfer it for the operation of the device.

Silent operation

For each type of evaporative cooling, we have options to minimize annoying noise. This includes, for example, the integration of silencers at the air intakes, where most of the noise is generated. Silent water transmission through the BACross packing is also possible. As an option to the conventional axial and centrifugal fans, you can opt for whisper-quiet fans, which further reduce the noise level and an alignment to soundless area is also possible.

Efficient energy consumption

Most of the equipment is factory assembled, which means a considerable reduction in costs. This includes in particular assembly work with normally large cranes, which can be replaced by smaller cranes, as larger equipment can be assembled step by step. The integration of motors and drive is also included in the factory work.

Efficient energy consumption

Removable air inlet protection elements allow easy cleaning of the packing. The closed cooling circuit virtually eliminates contamination in the system. Gradient in Maintenance and inspections are in most cases also possible during operation of the plant. Internal rooms and catwalks ensure smooth inspections.

Choose the optimal system for your requirements

Main advantages in detail

Since the process liquid in the closed circuit is completely isolated from the environment, routine maintenance is only required on the heat dissipator itself. This reduces the need to shut down the system regularly to clean the heat exchanger considerably, if not completely unnecessary. The clean process liquid also extends the service life of other system components such as the condenser, compressor, etc. The clean process liquid also increases the life of the other system components.

Evaporative coolers with closed circuit save water treatment costs because the circulating water to be treated has only a small volume. During periods of dry operation, no fresh water is required for treatment.

  • Free cooling operation without the need for an intermediate heat exchanger at low outside temperatures is possible: the chiller is switched off.
  • In dry operation
    • Saving of water and chemical
    • Prevention of icing
    • Removal of swaths
  • Variable pump operation: The closed cooling water circuit enables pump operation with variable speed to save energy.
