Desalination plants

Application of Desalination plants

Automated, conductivity-controlled desalination plants decisively increase the operational reliability of cooling towers and air washers with semi-open water circuits. The continuous loss of water through evaporation leads to the accumulation of salts and dirt particles in the circulation water. This water thickening must be periodically compensated by desalination.

The electrical conductivity of the cooling water, which is continuously measured and used for controlling the desalination system, provides information about the degree of contamination. The system discharges part of the circulating water as waste water and replaces it with fresh water, which can be conditioned by adding hardness stabilizers, corrosion inhibitors and biocides. An automatically controlled, time-defined lock of the desalination ensures that no freshly added biocides get into the waste water.
