The radial counterflow cooling tower VTL-E has a performance range of 3 – 130 l/s with a maximum water inlet temperature of 55°C (standard packing) to 65°C (alternative packing). For adaptation to individual customer requirements and on-site conditions, a range of trickle installations and design options are available. Open cooling towers with radial fans allow reliable year-round operation and require little maintenance. They are highly efficient and therefore the ideal solution for the increasing need to save water and energy and protect the environment.

Operating principle

Hot process water (1) enters the spray system (2) from above, where it is distributed over the packing or the heat transfer medium (3). At the same time, the radial fan (4) blows ambient air (5) through the tower from bottom to top. When the hot process water meets the cold air, it is heated and part of the process water evaporates, resulting in optimum heat transfer. The tower tank (6) or basin collects the cooled water (7), which then returns to the heat source of the process. The warm saturated air (8) leaves the tower through the droplet separators (9), which remove the water droplets from the air.

Main advantages in detail

Motors and drive are located next to the housing part, making these low models particularly suitable for installation in spaces with problematic heights. Thanks to its low height, the VTL-E fits perfectly on roofs or in narrow rooms with limited ceiling heights.

VTL-E towers are factory assembled and supplied in one piece and are therefore easy to install on site due to their minimal operating weight. The radial fans allow them to be integrated into supply and return air duct systems and can therefore also be installed indoors. The one-sided air inlet allows the installation next to solid walls.

Radial fans are characterized by a low noise level. For particularly low sound requirements in one direction, the unit can be aligned so that the quiet rear of the tower opposite the air intake points in that direction. A further reduction in operating noise with silencers developed and tested in the factory or water silencers is possible.

Evaporative cooling units minimize the energy consumption of the entire system due to their low operating temperatures. The operator saves costs, conserves resources and environmental influences. As an option, the Baltiguard drive system allows you to further reduce energy consumption and noise levels at low loads. A perfect standby system in the event of an engine failure.

The thermal performance of the VTL-E cooling towers has been tested and certified by Eurovent. Corrosion-resistant materials, such as the unique Baltibond hybrid coating, guarantee a long service life.

Easy access to all mechanical parts, including fan bearings, simplifies maintenance. Packages with individual BACount packing steel sheets ensure trouble-free inspection or cleaning and generally make a complete replacement of the packing packages superfluous.
